Description
Henri, a Director Who Wishes You Well: Abstract
Henri, a Director Who Wishes You Well is a case study by Marc-Antonin Hennebert and Olivier Doucet.
This fictional case relates the story of Henri Larivière, founder and director of an SME. Over the years, Henri has grown his business, so that it is now a leader in Quebec’s home lighting industry. He has always handled the management of his staff in a “family style” manner with little formalization.
Following the growth of the business and an increase in the number of employees, Henri will face significant human resource management (HRM) challenges. The sudden departure of several employees coupled with disciplinary and accommodation problems, and the recent filing of an application for union certification convince Henri to reconsider his management practices. What were Henri’s main errors with regard to HRM? Could these errors have been avoided?
